Read Your Itinerary Thoroughly Before Confirming

The program I am attending this coming Fall (2012) is through Australearn (aka Globalinks) and the school I chose was Bond University. Last week, through the Australearn website, I was able to set up my flight arrangements. Australearn goes through STA Travel. If you decide to join the group flight, you will receive an option to make $150 down payment.

Most people would think that this would mean that you could make payments over time. This is what I thought. As it turns out, this is not the case. You make your down payment and then you must make the rest of your payment, the balance of the flight, within two weeks. This would be fine, if I had the money to afford that right up front. This is not fair to those who don't have much money. My school even suggested going through STA Travel for the down payment option and the ability to make monthly payments.

I'll take this as a lesson learned.

And the Adventure Begins

The beginning of an amazing opportunity has been given to me. I pondered about where I would study abroad for quite a long time before deciding that Australia would be a great idea. Now, I will admit, it was not my first choice and not my second choice, but I decided that it would be a great fit for me. I will be studying at Bond University in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. I cannot wait till I can get there, I kid you not, I find excuses to bring it up each and everyday.

Now, my goal with this blog is to focus on my adventure into my own unknown. I want to document my trip and studies, and I would love to share photos with all who read as well. How I'm starting this is with my pre-departure experiences, to my flight there, the adventure of my lifetime and then my trip home. If I'm lucky, I may even be able to add on about my trip to Japan if I get into Kansai Gaidai University.

I would also like to hear what you all have to say about travel, what your experiences were and what you would recommend. Not only for Australia and Japan, but anywhere in the world.
